Read our Issues Papers

At the Guernsey Tomorrow event on 20th September and in our publicity material, the Guernsey Tomorrow team has said that a set of background research papers would be posted on the website. This material is now available for you to read and download.

You will see that there are two kinds of paper: one deals with the pressures the Island faces for development and change; the other with the current state of the Island and local resources (human, financial, environmental, cultural and functional).

You may be interested in reading all the papers or only those that deal with particular topics. In either case we would welcome your views. At the end of each section we pose specific questions and it would be particularly helpful to have your response to these.

Whether you want to read everything or just to ‘dip into’ this material, I would urge you to read the short ‘Introduction’ first because this will put things in context for you.

Please bear in mind that the Issues Papers are not policy statements only research material that is part of a continuing process of information gathering. We would like to know from you:

  • Are we covering the right kinds of issues?

  • Which issues are of most concern to you?

Are there any other important issues that you feel we have overlooked?
