Welcome to Guernsey Tomorrow

This website has been constructed to keep you updated on 'Guernsey Tomorrow' and the development of the Strategic Land Use Plan. Its development is ongoing, with information and feedback is added as and when we have it, so please visit us regularly or contact us if you can't find what you're looking for.

On this website you can find out what we've done so far, what we've done already and what stage we're at now.

Update

The 'Guernsey Tomorrow Summary Report' was published in July 2010. In October 2010, Deputies considered a States Report setting out broad options for the future land planning of the island. The options in the report were developed to encompass the wide range of views, opinions and ideas that were contributed by people throught eh 'Guernsey Tomorrow' initiative. The options described different ways that the island could accomodate its development requirements over the next 2 to 20 years. We are now working closely with all Deputies to develop a preferred option in greater detail. A series of workshops have been held with Deputies to aid this process, with the final workshop to be held in March 2011.

The Strategic Land Planning Group will then prepare a new Strategic Land Use Plan for further States debate and approval later in 2011. This new strategic plan will then provide guidance to the Environment Department for the replacement of the Urban Area and Rural Area Plans.

The review of the Urban Area and Rural Area Plans will commence once the Strategic Land Use Plan for further States debate and approval later in 2011. This new strategic plan will tehn provide guidance to the Environment Department for the replacement of the Urban Area and Rural Area Plans.

The review of the Urban Area and Rural Area Plans will commence once the Strategic Land use Plan is in Place (anticipated September 2011).

Guernsey Tomorrow Summary Report

The 'Guernsey Tomorrow Summary Report' is being published as a prelude to the September States meeting when Deputies will have an opportunity to consider a States Report setting out broad options for the future land planning of the island. The options in the report have been developed to encompass the wide range of views, opinions and ideas that were contributed by people through the 'Guernsey Tomorrow' initiative. The options describe different ways that the island could accommodate its development requirements over the next 5 to 20 years. After the initial States debate at the end of September, we will be working closely with all the Deputies to develop a preferred option in greater detail. The Strategic Land Planning Group will then prepare a new Strategic Land Use Plan for further States debate and approval early in 2011. It is that new strategic plan which will then provide guidance to the Environment Department for the replacement of the Urban Area and Rural Area Plans.
