Business Groups
The Minister for Commerce and Employment, Carla McNulty-Bauer welcomed 34 people from the island’s business community to a Guernsey Tomorrow meeting at Les Cotils on 21st January 2009.
Posters were displayed on the walls with lists of ‘key issues’ under the four themes of ‘Business’, ‘Community and Social’, ‘Functional’ and ‘Environmental’. Armed with a set of ‘sticky dots’ everyone studied the key issues listed, added any issues that they thought were missing and used their dots to select the top four issues from each theme. To see the results of the ‘sticky dots’ exercise please click on ‘Business’, ‘Community and Social’, ‘Functional’ and ‘Environmental’.
For the Good, the Bad and the Ugly exercise, everyone used post-it notes to jot down the best things about being in Guernsey (the Good), then the bad things (that can’t be changed) about being in Guernsey (the Bad) and finally the things that most spoil Guernsey and they would like to change. The meeting was divided into four groups and each group took part in the ‘Top Trumps’ exercise. Based on the results from the ‘sticky dots’ exercise each group was handed a set of 16 blue cards representing the highest scoring issues from the ‘Business’ and ‘Community and Social’ themes and a set of 16 green cards representing the highest scoring issues from the ‘Functional’ and ‘Environmental’ themes. They used the cards to prioritise their top 8 issues from each set. You can see the issues that each group selected by clicking here.
