Guernsey Douzaine Council
The Guernsey Douzaine Council invited representatives from each of the Douzaines to attend a Guernsey Tomorrow workshop at the Castel Douzaine Room on Monday 1st December 2008.
The meeting was attended by 22 Douzainiers. They divided themselves into three groups. They were all given 16 sticky dots each. They were asked to look at the lists of ‘Business’, ‘Community and Social’, ‘Functional’ and ‘Environmental’ issues. They were invited to add any issues that they thought were missing and then used their sticky dots to indicate their top 4 issues on each list. Click on ‘Business’, ‘Community and Social’, ‘Functional’ and ‘Environmental’ to view the results of the Sticky Dots exercise.
In their groups, the attendees individually jotted down the things that they think are good about the island (The Good), things that they think are bad and which cannot be changed (The Bad) and things that they feel spoil the island and which they would like to change (The Ugly). Using the results from the Sticky Dots exercise, each group were given cards corresponding to the 8 highest scoring issues for each theme. Taking the 8 ‘Business’ cards and the 8 ‘Community and Social’ cards, the groups traded cards until they had selected a final set of 8 cards covering both themes. The Groups then repeated the exercise with the ‘Functional’ and ‘Environmental’ cards to choose a set of 8 cards covering both of those themes.
