Workshop 1

We held an interactive workshop at Les Cotils on 20th September, to help us identify and prioritise the key issues.

We invited a broad cross section of people from 112 different groups and organisations. For a list of the organisations that were invited please click here. A total of 61 people attended.  The delegates were arranged around eight tables of 6 to 9. Each table chose a group name. Please click here to see who was in each group.

Before coffee the delegates took part in ‘icebreaker’ activities, after the break the delegates were involved in activities designed to identify and prioritise the issues of most concern to those present. Please click here to see a copy of the programme.

In ‘The Good, The Bad and The Ugly’, everyone wrote down on post-it notes the thing that they thought was best about being in Guernsey, the thing that they thought was worst about being in Guernsey and the thing they thought spoilt Guernsey the most and they would like to change. Click here to see what people thought was Good Bad and Ugly.

In ‘All Agreed’, each group was given one of ten topics to discuss. The groups were asked to agree three simple statements about the topic they discussed. Please click here to see the agreed statements for each topic.

Look at the presentations in the ‘Get Involved’ section to see the brief explanation of ‘Guernsey Tomorrow’ and the ‘Pub Quiz’ Question. Blue Dawn won the pub quiz.

For ‘Sticky Dots’ everyone had 16 dots each. A range of issues were listed under the four themes of Business, Community & Social, Functional and Environmental. Everyone was asked to place a single dot against each of the four issues that they thought were the most important for each theme. Please click [1] [2] [3] [4] to see the results of the Sticky Dots for each theme.

The results of the Sticky Dots exercise were used to select the cards for the Top Trumps game. The top eight issues from each theme were chosen. There were two sets of cards one set corresponding to the Business and Community & Social themes and the other corresponding to the Functional and Environmental themes. Each group then played a trading game to choose the 8 cards out of each set of 16 that they thought were the most important. Please click here to see the results.

In the themed discussions, each of the four themes was discussed by two groups. They focussed their discussions on the top four issues identified in Sticky Dots. Click [1] and [2] to see the main points of discussion.
