Public drop-in
To coincide with the Xmas late night shopping, the former Post Office in Smith Street was used to offer people a chance to take part in the Guernsey Tomorrow initiative. The drop-in was open from 12 – 2.30pm and 6 – 9.30pm on Thursday; and 12 – 2.30pm on Friday. Over the course of the three sessions, 141 people took part.
Posters were displayed listing ‘key issues’ under the themes of Business, Community and Social, Functional and Environmental. People were invited to add any issues that they thought were missing. Each person was given a set of coloured dots, which they used to identify four issues from each list that they felt were of most concern. To see the results of the sticky dots exercise click on Business; Community and Social; Functional or Environmental.
A ‘self service’ version of the Top Trumps card exercise was available for people to use. This version involved two charts. One chart covered the Business/Community and Social themes. The other chart covered the Functional and Environmental themes. Each chart had 16 cards arranged at the top. Each card represented one of the highest scoring issues, based on the ‘sticky dots’ results from all the preceding events. Participants were asked to prioritise 8 cards from the top 16 and move them to the bottom of each chart. The results were recorded. Please click here to see the results of this exercise.
Finally, participants used post-it notes to express their personal views and opinions which were then stuck onto a ‘grafitti’ wall. You can see these individual views and opinions by clicking here.
