Leisure, Heritage and Arts

On 9th December 2008, the Culture and Leisure Department hosted a meeting at Beau Sejour. The meeting was attended by 38 people with a range of interests in leisure, heritage and the arts.

Posters were displayed listing ‘key issues’ under the themes of ‘Business’, ‘Community and Social’, ‘Functional’ and ‘Environmental’. The participants were invited to add any issues that had been overlooked. Using sticky dots the participants marked their top four issues under each theme. You can see the results of the Sticky Dots exercise by clicking on ‘Business’, ‘Community and Social’, ‘Functional’ and ‘Environmental’.

In six groups, the participants individually jotted down the best things about being in Guernsey (the Good), the worst things (that cannot be changed) about being in Guernsey (the Bad) and the things that most spoil the island and they would like to change (the Ugly). Based on the results from the Sticky Dots exercise, each group was given a set of blue cards matching the top 8 ‘business’ issues and the top 8 ‘community and social’ issues and a set of green cards representing the top 8 ‘functional’ issues and the top 8 ‘environmental’ issues. Each group then selected 8 cards from the blue set and 8 cards from the green set, which they considered were the most important issues.
