Youth Forum

The Youth Forum invited about 30 young people (aged between 12 and 19) to take part in a workshop meeting at the Brock Road Youth Centre. All of the young people participated in a ‘Sticky Dots’ exercise. They were each given 16 sticky dots and individually placed a dot against each of their top 4 ‘Business’ issues, their top 4 ‘Community & Social’ issues, their top 4 ‘Functional’ issues and their top 4 ‘Environmental’ issues. They added issues that they wanted to see covered.

After the break, some of the younger participants opted out and left a core group of about 20 members from the Youth Forum. Working in three groups they identified the best things about the island, the worst things about the island (that cannot be changed) and the things that spoil the island and that they would like to change. Based on the earlier results from the ‘Sticky Dots’ exercise, the remaining young people played the ‘Top Trumps’ issues trading game in two groups: ‘Here Come the Girls’ and ‘Marmite and Jam. Please click here to see the results of the ‘Top Trumps’ exercise.
